The Atlanta Braves are making sweeping changes after a frustrating 2025 campaign.
This week, they removed five players from the 40-man roster, making them free agents:
- OF Jarred Kelenic
- C Sandy León
- OF Luke Williams
- RHP Alexis Díaz
- RHP Dane Dunning
Kelenic is the most recognizable name on the list. Once a prized prospect for the Seattle Mariners, he never lived up to expectations there. Atlanta acquired him before the 2024 season, but he underwhelmed at the plate, hitting .231 with little power. In 2025, he struggled even more, batting just .167 in limited action before being sent to Triple-A, where he hit .213.

Díaz also stands out, as the Braves claimed him off waivers from the Dodgers in September. Unfortunately, his rough season continued, and the younger brother of Mets closer Edwin Díaz couldn’t secure a role.
On top of that, Atlanta will see three veterans—Raisel Iglesias, Marcell Ozuna, and Charlie Morton—hit free agency this winter.
After a surprising fourth-place finish in the NL East, this offseason will be pivotal as the Braves look to reset and rebound for 2026.
