Giants reliever Camilo Doval had a challenging 2024 MLB season, but his reputation around the league remains strong.

Several teams have shown interest in acquiring the 2023 All-Star, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 27-year-old Doval struggled with a 4.88 ERA in 59 innings across 62 appearances last season. After a rough stretch, the Giants removed him from the closer role and sent him to Triple-A Sacramento in early August to work on his game without the added pressure.

Doval was recalled on August 24 and finished the season with a 5.40 ERA in 16 appearances.

Despite his struggles, Doval’s powerful arm and 100-mph fastball continue to attract attention from both the Giants and other teams.

In 2023, Doval earned All-Star honors with a 2.93 ERA, 1.138 WHIP, and 87 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings. However, his performance regressed in 2024, prompting several teams to inquire about his availability via trade.

The Giants now face the decision of whether Doval can return to his 2023 form or if it’s time to part ways with the player they signed in 2015 and developed into one of MLB’s top relievers.
