Former Palmer High School football player Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu is set to return to the Pacific Northwest.
Aumavae-Laulu, who spent his freshman year at Palmer High before transferring to Liberty High School out of state, signed a reserve/future contract with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, as announced by the team.
He joins a Seahawks roster that also features fellow Alaskan Brandon Pili, who landed on Seattle’s practice squad after being released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this season.
Originally from Palmer, Aumavae-Laulu played one year at Palmer High before moving with his family to the Las Vegas area. He began his college career at Navarro College, a junior college near Dallas, where he played for two seasons starting in 2017.

He then transferred to the University of Oregon, competing in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season as well as the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
In his final year with the Ducks, Aumavae-Laulu earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors.
Selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 199th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, he appeared in two games during his time in Baltimore.
Unless released, Aumavae-Laulu will have the opportunity to compete for a spot on Seattle’s 53-man roster this summer.
