San Diego Padres starter Kyle Hart made two costly mistakes on the mound Wednesday, each resulting in a solo home run, as the Detroit Tigers shut out the Padres 6-0 in the final game of their three-game set at Comerica Park.
Hart gave up his first homer to Gleyber Torres in the bottom of the first inning, then managed to escape a bases-loaded jam to keep the score at 1-0.

His second mistake came in the fifth when Justyn-Henry Malloy launched another solo shot, putting Detroit up 2-0 and ending Hart’s outing.

The Tigers extended their lead in the seventh inning off Padres reliever Adrian Morejon. Malloy drove in a run with a double, and Riley Greene followed with an RBI single, making it 4-0.

Detroit capped the scoring in the eighth as catcher Dillon Dingler belted a two-run homer off Yuki Matsui, sealing the 6-0 final.
Both home runs off Hart came with one out in the inning. Aside from those two pitches, Hart pitched effectively enough to keep San Diego in contention, but the Padres’ offense offered no help.

San Diego managed just two hits, both by Jose Iglesias, off Detroit starter Reese Olsen, who pitched into the eighth. Olsen’s strong outing led to the Padres’ first shutout loss of the season.
The Padres will look to bounce back Friday when they open a series against the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:40 p.m.
