The Baltimore Orioles have been one of the top teams in Major League Baseball recently, winning 101 games in 2023 and 91 games in 2024.
Despite their strong regular-season performances, the Orioles were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in both years.
This offseason, the team saw the departure of some key players, including ace pitcher Corbin Burnes, who signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and outfielder Anthony Santander, who joined the Toronto Blue Jays.
To address Santander’s departure, the Orioles announced the addition of a new outfielder:
“We have agreed to terms with OF Dylan Carlson on a one-year contract for the 2025 season,” the team posted on X.
Carlson is one of several new acquisitions for Baltimore, joining outfielder Tyler O’Neill, catcher Gary Sanchez, and starting pitcher Charlie Morton. The Orioles now have multiple options to fill Santander’s spot in the outfield.

Carlson, who debuted in 2020 with the St. Louis Cardinals, spent part of the 2024 season with the Tampa Bay Rays. Across 96 games with the Cardinals and Rays, he posted a .209 batting average, three home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .563 OPS.
While his stats don’t match Santander’s production, Carlson could serve as a versatile outfield option in 2025.
The Orioles aim to make their third consecutive postseason appearance and secure their first playoff series win since reaching the American League Championship Series in 2014.
