The Cincinnati Reds made a series of roster moves on Friday morning ahead of their matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies. Infielder Noelvi Marte and right-handed pitcher Graham Ashcraft were both activated from the injured list, replacing utilityman Ryan Vilade and reliever Sam Benschoter on the active roster.

Marte, who began the season at Triple-A, was quickly promoted to the majors. In 19 games with the Reds during April and early May, he posted an impressive .294/.342/.515 slash line, tallying four doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 17 RBIs. He also drew five walks and struck out just 12 times before landing on the injured list.

Marte missed nearly seven weeks before beginning a rehab stint. He played three games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League before moving up to Double-A Chattanooga for four games. He then finished his rehab with Triple-A Louisville. Over nine rehab games, he hit .333/.459/.600 with a triple, two home runs, six walks, and only one strikeout in 37 plate appearances.

Ashcraft, meanwhile, did not require a rehab assignment. As previously reported, he threw bullpen sessions last weekend and a live session during the week in Boston. That was sufficient for his return following a two-and-a-half-week absence due to a right groin strain.

Vilade has been optioned back to Triple-A Louisville after a week-and-a-half stint with the Reds in which he played just one game.

Benschoter, who was called up on July 1, did not appear in a game during his brief time with the team and is still awaiting his major league debut.
