The Seattle Seahawks enter 2025 with a noticeably different roster build. Rather than prioritizing speedy wideouts, they chose receivers who can contribute as blockers as well as pass-catchers—an indication the team plans to lean more heavily on the run game.
For that strategy to work, however, Seattle must stay healthy across the offensive line, at tight end, and in the receiving corps. That’s why the first injury updates raised concerns: all three of the more physical receivers on the 53-man roster—Jake Bobo, Dareke Young, and Cody White—were listed as limited participants in practice.

While fans obviously want everyone healthy, it would be far from ideal if only Tory Horton, Cooper Kupp, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba were fully available for Week 1 against the 49ers. Among that trio, only Kupp has a track record as an effective blocker.
How healthy are the Seattle Seahawks entering Week 1 versus the San Francisco 49ers?
The bad news is that Bobo, who entered concussion protocol after getting hurt in preseason Week 3 against the Packers, won’t be available. He won’t be cleared in time for Sunday, though the hope is that this won’t linger long-term.

Dareke Young (hamstring) is also ruled out. That leaves the Seahawks with Kupp, JSN, White, and Horton. In other words, two of the three wideouts known for their blocking are sidelined. Expect heavy usage of JSN and Kupp, while Horton may see limited snaps since he’s a rookie still adjusting to NFL physicality.
On defense, edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu will also sit out. That’s no surprise considering he missed most of camp and preseason while recovering from knee surgery. A return before Week 4 is possible, but him being out for Week 2 wouldn’t be shocking either.
The good news? No other players were given an injury designation. So while Bobo, Young, and Nwosu won’t suit up, the rest of the roster is healthy. The key now is getting through Week 1 against the 49ers without any more setbacks.
