Breaking: “More Braves Moves” Braves officially make unstoppable roster move

The Braves made a flurry of roster moves ahead of their doubleheader opener against the Nationals.

Atlanta selected José Suarez to the major league roster, and he’ll get the start in Game 1. Nathan Wiles was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett, while Connor Seabold and Alexis Díaz were optioned back down. (Gwinnett’s season is almost over anyway.)

Suarez becomes the Braves’ 18th different starting pitcher this year, which may very well be a franchise record. He’s posted a 2.45 ERA, 6.42 FIP, and 6.32 xFIP over just 7.1 innings.

Wiles gives Atlanta another multi-inning option for the twin bill. Seabold, who had been eating innings earlier this season, couldn’t record an out in his most recent outing. Díaz did notch three outs last night, but he too was sent down in favor of fresher arms.

In a separate move, Sean Murphy was officially transferred to the 60-day injured list—a decision that was expected given the nature of his injury.
