The Boston Red Sox boast a strong group of young talent and could be in position to make a blockbuster move to add a superstar and push for a World Series run in the near future.
Their current core already has them in the playoff mix, but this offseason looms large. While the team will need to address Alex Bregman’s contract situation, they may also explore acquiring another star to strengthen the roster.

Recently, MLB Network suggested the Atlanta Braves might consider moving Ronald Acuña Jr., and BALLCAP Sports’ Jim Riley floated a trade scenario involving Boston:
Red Sox receive: Ronald Acuña Jr.
Braves receive: Wilyer Abreu and Brandon Clarke (Boston’s No. 5 prospect)

Though the package looks light, Riley noted that Baseball Trade Values still labels it an overpay for Boston. With the Red Sox’s outfield already crowded, moving one of their younger outfielders would be logical in order to complete such a deal.

Riley’s idea also envisions Roman Anthony taking on more designated hitter duties while Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Acuña anchor the outfield. Given Acuña’s talent and his affordable contract over the next three seasons, he could be a game-changer for Boston.
A lineup featuring Garrett Crochet, Anthony, Bregman, and Acuña would give the Red Sox legitimate championship potential, with young pieces like Marcelo Mayer and Rafaela providing strong support.
