The Cincinnati Reds are in Boston today to kick off a series against the Red Sox, and they made a roster move ahead of the opener on Monday afternoon. Left-handed reliever has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville, replacing right-hander Ian Gibaut on the active roster. Gibaut is headed to the injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

Gibaut’s last outing came on Saturday in the loss to the Padres, where he delivered a clean ninth inning on just 11 pitches. He’ll now be sidelined for at least 15 days.

Taking his place is La Sorsa, who has already appeared in two games for the Reds this season. In his debut, he threw a scoreless, hitless inning with two walks against the Diamondbacks. His second outing didn’t go as smoothly — he gave up four runs on five hits in one inning versus Cleveland.

Since returning to Triple-A, La Sorsa has pitched in four games for Louisville, allowing one earned run over 3.2 innings. He’s given up three hits and three walks while striking out seven.
