The Orioles announced they’ve acquired right-handed pitcher from the Braves in exchange for cash considerations. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, they designated outfielder Jordyn Adams for assignment. Ramón Laureano has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will take Adams’ place on the active roster. He has not yet joined the team, so another roster move will be needed once he reports.
Although it was expected that Atlanta would designate Him for assignment, they completed a trade with Baltimore before taking that step. He had a tough outing in Atlanta’s recent loss, entering in the eighth with a 9-3 lead.
He gave up one run in that inning, and after Atlanta added another run, he returned for the ninth. After retiring the first batter, the next four reached base, forcing the Braves to bring in closer Raisel Iglesias. The Diamondbacks completed a comeback to win 11-10, with Him charged for five earned runs in 1.1 innings.
Despite that rough appearance, He has had a solid 2025 overall. He owns a 3.91 ERA with a 21.8% strikeout rate, 10% walk rate, and an impressive 56.3% groundball rate.
Blewett, who is out of minor league options, has bounced around this year. He began the season with the Twins on a minor league deal, got called up in April but was DFA’d shortly after, then briefly joined the Orioles before another DFA. He was traded to Atlanta for cash and stayed with them for over a month before this latest move.

Adams, 25, joined the Orioles on a minor league deal during the offseason and was called up recently due to a rash of injuries. Primarily used as a late-inning defensive replacement, he appeared in five games but only had one plate appearance.
A former first-round pick of the Angels, Adams is known for his athleticism and speed but has struggled offensively at higher levels. Since 2021, he’s hit .247/.326/.377 in nearly 2,000 minor league plate appearances with an 84 wRC+. He can steal 20–40 bases per season and cover a lot of ground in the outfield.
Adams now enters the DFA process, which could last up to a week. The waiver period is 48 hours, but the Orioles have a few days to gauge trade interest. He still has one option year left.
