The San Francisco Giants are expected to be one of the league’s most proactive teams this offseason. With franchise icon Buster Posey now leading as president of baseball operations, the team is entering a new era, marked by an aggressive approach in free agency.

This new direction may also involve trading some players from the 2024 roster as they gear up for 2025. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Giants could consider offers for two key players if the right opportunity arises.

“LaMonte Wade Jr., first baseman: As Buster Posey reshapes the Giants’ roster, Wade—whose .376 on-base percentage ranks 11th among 144 players with at least 900 plate appearances over the last two seasons—is available. So is outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, a free agent after the 2025 season,” Passan reported.

Wade, 30, is eligible for free agency in 2026. Over the past two seasons, he’s posted 4.8 WAR with a .258/.376/.401 slash line, adding 25 home runs and 30 doubles in 252 games.

Yastrzemski, 34, also set to reach free agency in 2026, has recorded at least 2.0 WAR in each of his six big-league seasons, typically batting in the .230-.240 range with an OPS near .770. Both players could attract interest on the trade market, though the Giants may simply be exploring their options rather than actively looking to move these players.
