It’s possible they might still be moved before the next season.

The San Francisco Giants have four players eligible for arbitration. While it’s likely that all four will receive contract offers from the team, there’s still a chance they could be traded before next season.

In an article by Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, the case for each of these players is examined in detail. Although there are solid arguments for keeping each one, it doesn’t guarantee that they’ll all remain with the Giants next season. Let’s take a look at the trade potential for each player.

4 SF Giants arbitration candidates could be still traded

1. Mike Yastrzemski

Since making his MLB debut in 2019, Yastrzemski has been a dependable player for the Giants, though he hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations set by his powerful first two seasons, where he hit 21 home runs in 107 games in 2019 and 10 home runs in 54 games during the pandemic-shortened season.

While his offense can be inconsistent and he doesn’t hit for a high average, he compensates with strong defense and solid baserunning. He would be a valuable 3rd or 4th outfielder for most teams. The Giants might consider trading him, possibly along with prospects, to pursue a younger player like Steven Kwan or to acquire a starting pitcher.

Though Yastrzemski is a fan favorite, a trade could be beneficial if the return is favorable for the Giants.

2. LaMonte Wade Jr.

Wade has found success as a Giant since joining the team in 2019, but injuries have hindered his ability to make a significant impact in recent seasons. With top prospect Bryce Eldridge poised to take over at first base, trading Wade could clear a path for the young player. However, this could leave the team dependent on Wilmer Flores at first base or force them to sign a risky short-term solution, so the Giants may choose to keep Wade instead.

3. Tyler Rogers

The right-handed Rogers has been exceptionally reliable for the Giants and serves as an important setup man. However, the Giants might opt to use Doval and Ryan Walker for the 8th and 9th innings, which could lead them to trade Rogers to a team seeking a reliever in exchange for a player who would fill a gap for the Giants. It’s uncertain who in the bullpen could match Rogers’ level of consistency, but his name may be considered in trade discussions.

4. Camilo Doval

Doval could be the Giants’ most valuable trade asset due to his youth and exceptional talent. Although he struggled in 2024 and faced scrutiny regarding his work ethic and attitude, a team needing bullpen support might be willing to take a risk on him for some prospects.

If the Giants believe Doval can no longer be effective in San Francisco after losing his closer position in 2024, trading him would be a logical move.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see at least one player from this list traded either before the 2025 season or during it, as the Giants aim to return to playoff contention.
