The Atlanta Braves are undergoing a managerial change—one of several moves expected this offseason. Brian Snitker will not return as manager, a decision that had been anticipated for some time.

“Under normal circumstances, Snitker’s recent success would earn him a ‘mulligan’ season—even though falling from World Series contender to draft lottery hopeful is quite a drop,” wrote Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report. “But at 69, the oldest manager in the National League by several years, and with his contract expiring, retirement was already a likely outcome.”

Sandy León Delivering for Braves on and off the Field

Elsewhere, the Braves parted ways with veteran catcher and former World Series champion Sandy León earlier in the week when he elected free agency.

“David O’Brien of The Athletic reported Monday that León became a free agent after being outrighted off the Braves’ 40-man roster. His player transactions page hadn’t yet reflected the change. León went 1-for-12 in five scattered major league appearances this season,” noted Sports Illustrated’s Jackson Roberts.

However, just days later, León rejoined the organization on a minor league deal.

“As shown on his transaction page, the Braves have re-signed veteran catcher Sandy León to a minor league contract, assigning him to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he’s spent most of the past two seasons,” reported SI’s Harrison Smajovits.

The move serves as a depth signing, giving Atlanta experienced backup insurance in case injuries strike behind the plate again. León, a respected veteran, also adds leadership in the clubhouse.

While not a headline-grabbing move, it may signal the start of a busy offseason for the Braves, who now face a managerial vacancy and ample opportunities to reshape their roster.
