The Philadelphia Eagles are making final adjustments to their roster as they prepare for an upcoming Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs. While they remain one of the league’s top teams, there’s always room for small tweaks.

A key storyline to monitor is Brandon Graham’s status, as his practice window was officially opened on Thursday, signaling a potential return from injured reserve. However, a few other roster moves went largely unnoticed.

One such move was the release of tight end Nick Muse from the practice squad, with running back Lew Nichols being signed in his place.

Eagles Release TE Nick Muse From Practice Squad

Muse joined the practice squad on January 22 after the Minnesota Vikings chose not to extend his contract. He had spent the past couple of years with the team.

A seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by Minnesota, Muse saw limited action in 2023, appearing in two games and recording one reception for 22 yards. He also made a tackle on special teams but primarily remained on the practice squad during his time with the Vikings. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, he possesses ideal size but has yet to establish himself on an active roster.

At South Carolina, Muse was primarily used as a blocking tight end. However, he did show some receiving ability, catching 67 passes for 805 yards and three touchdowns over three seasons. That suggests there may still be untapped potential that another team could develop.

Transitioning from college to the NFL as a tight end is notoriously challenging, often requiring a few years of development. Now entering his fourth season, Muse will have another chance to prove himself, whether in Philadelphia or elsewhere, during the offseason.

For now, the Eagles remain focused on their Super Bowl aspirations. FanDuel Sportsbook lists them as slight 1.5-point underdogs with +110 moneyline odds, indicating a tight contest on football’s biggest stage.
