Unbelievable: Another Stunning Giants-49ers Trade Proposal

The New York Giants have secured a quarterback by signing Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million contract, providing them with a starting option, though another move may still be on the horizon.

The Giants remain in the mix for quarterbacks like Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers, and they’re a contender to select a quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Could a trade be in the cards?

According to former New York radio host and Fox Sports personality Craig Carton, the answer is a firm “yes.”

Carton’s viral trade suggestion sends Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, to the Giants. He proposed: “Here’s a trade nobody says no to – The @Giants trade 3 first-round picks (including a pick swap this year) with the @49ers for Brock Purdy. The Niners then sign (Aaron Rodgers) to be their starting QB for the 2025 season. You’re welcome, no need to pat me on the back, just happy to help.”

FS1 Host Says NY Giants Should Trade 3 1sts for 49ers QB Brock Purdy

This idea is gaining attention on social media, though it’s facing criticism for its boldness. Teams rarely trade away solid quarterbacks, and while opinions on Purdy vary, he’s clearly capable of winning, even if he doesn’t elevate his teammates. This likely removes him from the trade market, especially as he heads toward an extension that head coach Kyle Shanahan might not be eager to offer.

Additionally, acquiring Purdy would require a long-term commitment from a front office that may not have the leeway to make such a move. Drafting a quarterback at No. 3 is one thing, but trading multiple first-round picks for one is a different matter entirely.

Giants GM Joe Schoen would need to value Purdy’s consistent play over the potential of 2025 draft prospects and somehow fit a hefty extension into a roster that may not be ready for it.

What makes this scenario even remotely feasible is Schoen’s uncertain job security and the team’s desperation for a legitimate quarterback. If they’re not sold on Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward goes No. 1 to the Titans, they could be tempted to trade for a league-average quarterback or someone with top-10 potential.

Most fans would likely reject this hypothetical trade, and rightfully so. However, acquiring one of the most talked-about quarterbacks in the league could definitely stir up plenty of excitement in East Rutherford.
