This winter, the Chicago White Sox are dominating the trade market with their star power. While a handful of other teams have placed notable players like Ryan Helsley, Alec Bohm, and Devin Williams on the trade block, it’s the White Sox’s duo of Luis Robert Jr. and Garrett Crochet that are stealing the spotlight.
Among the two, Garrett Crochet is attracting the most attention. With a smaller contract and immense potential, he’s a highly coveted asset. Spotrac projects Him to land a contract worth around $130 million when he reaches free agency in 2027.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today recently reported on Crochet’s market, linking him to two top contenders this offseason.

“The San Diego Padres are highly interested in Crochet and have a history of trading prospects, but they’ve made it clear to the White Sox that catcher Ethan Salas and shortstop Leodalis De Vries are off-limits,” Nightengale wrote. “Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are also in the mix. Ultimately, the White Sox will trade Crochet to the team that offers the best package of prized prospects, as they aim to rebound from their disastrous 41-121 season.”
The Padres, who are reportedly pursuing Japanese free agent Roki Sasaki, might turn their attention to Crochet if their pursuit of Sasaki falls through. On the other hand, the Red Sox are looking to add multiple starters, with Crochet and free agent Max Fried seen as their top targets. If Boston misses out on Fried, they may leverage their deep farm system to make a strong push for Crochet.
