He ultimately chose the Crimson Tide over Ole Miss and Mississippi State. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Dear is ranked No. 31 nationally, No. 2 at his position, and No. 3 in the state of Mississippi for his senior class.

“I’m thrilled to join an elite program that competes for a national championship every year,” Dear told ESPN. “Playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide, one of the greatest programs in college football history, is an incredible honor. My goal has always been to be elite, and following in the footsteps of so many greats is a challenge I embrace.”

Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, Dear rushed for 800 yards and 21 touchdowns as a sophomore, followed by 2,016 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2023.

Regarding his choice of Alabama, Dear said, “It felt like home. The coaching staff, the environment, the commitment to greatness, the camaraderie among the players, and the track record of producing NFL-caliber running backs were all factors. Coach Robert Gillespie has been especially supportive and believes in my potential to contribute.”

Alabama also recently received a commitment from four-star running back Anthony Rogers, a senior at Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama. Rogers, standing at 5-foot-8 and weighing 190 pounds, is ranked No. 116 nationally, No. 6 at running back, and No. 8 in Alabama according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
