The Los Angeles Dodgers boast a star-studded roster, yet they continue to be linked to players who could strengthen their lineup further.

One such player is Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr., who had a down year but was outstanding in 2023. If acquired, Robert would solidify the Dodgers’ outfield for several seasons.

However, Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer doesn’t expect Robert to end up in Los Angeles. Instead, Rymer predicts the Kansas City Royals as the team likely to snag Robert from the White Sox.

He even proposed a trade package to make it happen:

Proposed Trade:

  • Kansas City Royals receive: OF Luis Robert Jr.
  • Chicago White Sox receive: RHP Ben Kudrna (No. 3 prospect), OF Gavin Cross (No. 6 prospect)

“This is purely speculation, but the Royals should take a shot at prying Robert from their AL Central rivals,” Rymer wrote. “They need offensive reinforcements for Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez, particularly in center field. The position produced a .642 OPS and only eight home runs this year, numbers Robert surpassed even during his down year.

“The Royals don’t have a deep farm system, but that may give them little to protect. After a surprising playoff run in 2024, they might as well push their chips in.”

While interdivisional trades like this are rare, they aren’t impossible, and this scenario could make sense. The deal Rymer suggests would see the Royals send two high-level prospects to Chicago in exchange for Robert. With Kansas City exceeding expectations in 2024, they could look to make an aggressive move to build on their success for 2025. Adding Robert would significantly bolster their roster.
