REPORT: Boston Red Sox Finalist To Sign Los Angeles Dodgers’ All-Star Slugger

Even if the Red Sox don’t land Juan Soto, they could still acquire a game-changing outfielder in MLB free agency.

Before Boston’s interest in Soto took center stage, there was already buzz about Teoscar Hernández potentially joining the Red Sox. Last offseason, Hernández and the Sox showed mutual interest, and the idea gained traction again after the veteran slugger helped the Dodgers clinch the 2024 World Series title.

Hernández, one of the most sought-after players on the market, may choose to remain with Los Angeles. However, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi believes the two-time All-Star could end up in Boston if he doesn’t stay at Chavez Ravine.

“If Teoscar doesn’t return to Dodger Stadium for 2025, I’m going to make a bold prediction here on Nov. 22: I believe he will join the American League East,” Morosi said on “Hot Stove” Friday. “He has phenomenal career numbers at Fenway Park.”

Morosi continued, “I think the top two candidates to sign Teoscar Hernández right now are the Dodgers and the Red Sox.”

Hernández himself admitted back in July that he “loves” the Red Sox and playing at Fenway Park. While a deal didn’t materialize with the 32-year-old last winter, Boston might have an edge over much of the competition this time around.

However, the operative word is “much.” While a Hernández-Red Sox pairing seems logical, reports suggest the Dodgers remain the favorites to re-sign the newly crowned World Series champion.
