Rafael Devers will not need surgery on his left shoulder, according to manager Alex Cora, who spoke on Sunday before the Sox’s split doubleheader against the Twins.

Devers had an MRI that showed inflammation in his left shoulder, which has been particularly troublesome, while his right shoulder has also been an issue. Cora noted, “The left shoulder is the main concern affecting his swing.
This has been an ongoing issue since spring training. It’s just inflammation, and he needs to rest. There’s no structural damage or need for surgery. He will have things to address in the offseason to return to normal, but this is positive news.”
