Chelsea faces an uphill task to prolong their Champions League title defense after a miserable quarter-final first leg in London.

The Blues lost 3-1 to Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge following a hat-trick from Karim Benzema.

The Spanish side’s experience should see them comfortably advance and a draw at 3.30 is our opening Real Madrid vs Chelsea prediction for the return fixture.

Real Madrid Odds

Benzema has taken center stage for Real this season with 37 goals in 36 games in all competitions.

The Frenchman stepped up when his side needed him the most with a treble to knock out Paris St Germain in the last 16.

And the striker repeated his heroics in London to make it 13 goals in his previous seven outings.

“Karim Benzema is getting better every day; just like a fine wine,” said Real coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“He’s more of a leader every day, he feels more and more important in this team and this squad. And I think that’s what makes the difference.

“He has so much more personality, he knows he’s a very important player for us and he’s an example for everyone.”

Real have conceded in three of their four home Champions League matches this season, with Chelsea scoring in three of four away trips in the competition.

Both teams found the net in the first leg and a repeat appeal at 1.70 in the Real Madrid vs Chelsea odds.

Chelsea Odds

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has already conceded the tie is over after another costly home defeat.

Having shipped four against Brentford the previous weekend, the Blues found themselves 2-0 down inside 24 minutes.

Kai Havertz responded before the break, but Benzema’s third just after half-time knocked the stuffing out of Chelsea.

Asked if the tie was still alive despite the defeat, Tuchel replied: “No. Not at the moment, no.

“The first half is a repetition of the second half against Brentford, in a quarter-final against Real Madrid.

“We were so far off our level in everything the game demands.”

The hosts should have enough to keep the Blues at bay, with a 1-1 draw at 6.50 the last of our Real Madrid vs Chelsea betting tips.
