The Philadelphia Phillies are heading into an offseason that could bring major roster shakeups, with some familiar faces potentially leaving and new additions on the way. One player to watch in free agency is Kyle Tucker, especially if Kyle Schwarber departs.

“If Schwarber moves on, or if the Phillies choose to expand their payroll even more, Tucker would fit perfectly on a veteran team built to win now,” Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter wrote.

MLB playoffs: Kyle Schwarber is the leader of the Phillies. Just like he was for his high school show choir.

“With Nick Castellanos set to hit free agency after 2026, Philadelphia could try to move him in a salary dump or even cut ties if he starts slow next season, further highlighting the need for another corner outfielder.”

According to The Athletic’s Matt Gelb, the Phillies are reportedly preparing to move on from Castellanos, either through a trade or outright release, despite him having a year left on his contract. President Dave Dombrowski’s refusal to comment directly on Castellanos during a recent press conference only reinforced that expectation.

As MLB Trade Rumors’ Anthony Franco noted, the signs have been there for months. Castellanos has failed to meet expectations during his tenure in Philadelphia and is coming off a career-worst season, slashing .250/.294/.400 while losing playing time down the stretch.

With the relationship between the player and the team clearly strained, Castellanos will likely seek a new opportunity elsewhere — something that might benefit both sides. Meanwhile, the Phillies are expected to pursue a new right fielder, with Tucker’s name standing out as a potential big-ticket target this offseason.
