The Pittsburgh Penguins are aiming to strengthen the left side of their defense this offseason, and one player linked to them is Vegas Golden Knights defenseman. However, they aren’t the only team reportedly interested in acquiring him.

According to The Fourth Period, the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, and Detroit Red Wings are also eyeing the 25-year-old, 6-foot-6 blueliner. Given his size and shutdown abilities, it’s no surprise that several NHL teams are pursuing him. Big, stay-at-home defensemen like Hague remain highly valued across the league.

The Penguins, in particular, could benefit from adding a player like Hague to their top-four defensive group. He would offer a stabilizing presence on the left side and could immediately step into a key role on the penalty kill—both areas of need for Pittsburgh.

Flyers Interested in Vegas Defenseman Nicolas Hague

Whether the Penguins ultimately land Hague remains to be seen, but they’ll certainly face stiff competition for his services.

In addition to addressing their defense, the Penguins should also prioritize upgrading their forward group this offseason. Their current lineup has noticeable gaps that must be filled if they hope to improve their performance in the 2025-26 season.
