The Seattle Seahawks face a tough decision regarding several key veterans this offseason, fueling speculation about their future moves. One name that’s generating increasing attention is Tyler Lockett, with rumors suggesting the team may part ways with the fan favorite.
In his February 17, 2025 article, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell included Lockett on a list of top potential cuts. Barnwell writes that Lockett’s time in Seattle might be nearing its end. Despite the Seahawks running one of the league’s most pass-heavy offenses, Lockett averaged just 35.3 receiving yards per game in 2024, his lowest since 2017.
His average of 1.2 yards per route run was also among his career lows, and his role in deep routes diminished significantly, as he was targeted only 10 times on such plays. Though he caught five of those passes for 150 yards, his overall impact seems to have waned.
Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett Is Slated to Have a Sizable $30.8 Million Cap Hit in 2025
Tyler Lockett is entering the final year of a two-year, $29.6 million contract, following a restructure during the 2024 offseason. Prior to this adjustment, he was under a four-year, $69 million deal.

However, the main issue is Lockett’s $30.8 million cap hit in 2025 due to the restructure, making it unlikely he will remain with the Seahawks at that number. While he could agree to another restructuring, it’s hard to see him staying on the roster with that salary, especially given his current role as the team’s third receiver behind DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
With Lockett set to earn $17 million in unguaranteed money in 2025, the Seahawks, who are already $11.3 million over the projected cap, would find it difficult to keep a player who is their third-best wideout under such a deal. His $30.9 million cap hit is the fourth-highest among wide receivers, behind Davante Adams, Metcalf, and CeeDee Lamb. To stay with Seattle, Lockett would likely need to take a significant pay cut.
Could Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett Reunite With Pete Carroll on the Raiders?

Seattle could be parting ways with Tyler Lockett in the near future. In the 2024 season, Lockett posted 49 receptions for 600 yards and 2 touchdowns over 17 games, marking his lowest production since 2017. If the Seahawks release him, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell suggests that Lockett might find a new home with the Las Vegas Raiders under his former coach, Pete Carroll.
The Raiders, with rookie standout Brock Bowers at tight end and Jakobi Meyers in the slot, could use additional help on the outside. While Tre Tucker is set to be the deep threat in the offense, Lockett would bring veteran experience and could serve as a steadying influence in the locker room as Carroll works to establish a strong team culture in Las Vegas.
