When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Landon Dickerson in the draft, they knew they were getting a dominant and resilient player to strengthen their offensive line. However, they may not have fully grasped just how tough and determined the Alabama product truly is—a fact that became even more evident during their run to a Super Bowl LIX victory.

Dickerson suffered a knee injury in the NFC Championship Game, a 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders. The injury occurred while he was filling in at center for Cam Jurgens, who missed the first half due to a back issue.

While many players might have struggled to play even a single series with such an injury, Dickerson pushed through, playing the remainder of the game and then suiting up for the Super Bowl.

“It feels like (expletive), if I’m being honest,” Dickerson admitted. “You have to push past that so you don’t dwell on it. It’s not supposed to feel good, but when you reach the end like this, it’s all worth it.

“I’ve had plenty of injuries and surgeries, but I love football too much to let one setback keep me from competing.”

Dickerson’s warrior mentality has been evident throughout his career. During his final college season, he tore his ACL but still managed to take the field for a snap in the National Championship Game.

Years later, he played a key role in the Eagles’ Super Bowl triumph, earning the admiration of his teammates.

“Knowing Landon these past few years, I’m not surprised at all,” left tackle Jordan Mailata said. “His work ethic, his drive, and his will to play are second to none. It means the world to me.

“It just shows that no matter what he’s going through, he’s going to be there for us.”

Dickerson is expected to undergo offseason knee surgery, and while his availability for the start of the 2025 season is uncertain, his toughness suggests he’ll be ready to go without hesitation.
