Isaac Paredes is a top target for the New York Yankees as the trade deadline approaches, primarily due to their urgent need for a third baseman. This All-Star infielder, recognized for his power and on-base abilities, would be a valuable addition to the Yankees’ lineup. Paredes boasts a 130 wRC+ this season and a 2.9 fWAR. Moreover, his contract extends for the next three seasons beyond 2024, making him a long-term asset. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Yankees and Dodgers are engaged in a bidding war for Paredes. However, after acquiring Jazz Chisholm Jr. yesterday, the Dodgers may be less likely to secure Paredes.
Isaac Paredes Drawing Plenty of Attention From Dodgers and Yankees

The New York Yankees are in need of a third baseman, and while acquiring Isaac Paredes would be expensive, he would be a valuable addition. The challenge lies in competing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have one of the best farm systems in baseball.
The Yankees traded Agustin Ramirez to Miami, losing a key trade asset in the process, which puts them at a disadvantage. According to Jack Curry of YES Network, the Yankees have been in extensive trade talks with the Rays, targeting players like Isaac Paredes, Yandy Diaz, and Pete Fairbanks. Diaz, with his leadoff profile and right-handed power, could be a suitable option for the Yankees.
However, the team would still need a third baseman. Jonathan India of the Cincinnati Reds might be a more appealing target due to his experience at third base in college and the Minor Leagues. Andy Martino of SNY reported that the Yankees have shown more interest in India than Paredes, likely because of the lower cost. Yet, the fit remains unclear after the Jazz Chisholm trade, and the Yankees will need to be creative to strengthen their lineup.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see if Gleyber Torres attracts trade interest or if the Yankees continue with Ben Rice at first base despite his recent struggles. Rice is still hitting the ball hard, and his Whiff Rates aren’t alarmingly high, but as a rookie, his performance can be unpredictable.
