JUST IN: Understand Vikings retooling priority, confirmed the departure of top star

The Minnesota Vikings have officially parted ways with center after six seasons, the team announced Monday.

Last Thursday, reports emerged that the Vikings were looking to trade Bradbury but would release him if no deal materialized. Given the lack of leverage from that news, it’s not surprising they were unable to secure a draft pick in return.

However, it is somewhat surprising that Minnesota managed to trade guard Ed Ingram but had to release the more experienced Bradbury.

According to NFL Network, Bradbury’s release is designated as post-June 1, providing the Vikings with $5.25 million in cap savings while incurring $814K in dead money, which will be spread across the 2025 and 2026 seasons. His cap hit will remain on the books until June 2, delaying access to the savings.

A first-round pick (18th overall) out of North Carolina State in 2019, Bradbury started all 92 games he played for Minnesota.

While he excelled in run blocking and communication, his struggles in pass protection prompted the Vikings to seek an upgrade this offseason. They recently signed veteran center Ryan Kelly, a nine-year starter for the Colts, to a two-year deal.
