The Boston Red Sox made two significant moves to strengthen their starting rotation by trading for Garrett Crochet and signing Walker Buehler.

These additions signaled that the team might be ready to part ways with pitcher. However, He still holds value on the market. According to Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller, the San Francisco Giants could be one of the top destinations for him.

Spotrac estimates the 31-year-old right-hander could secure a $60 million contract this offseason, a figure that aligns with the Giants’ spending capacity.

“In a scenario that feels like a game of ‘One of these things is not like the other,’ the three players who rejected qualifying offers and remain unsigned are Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman, and Him,” Miller wrote.

“Pivetta has been a reliable contributor for the Red Sox over the past four seasons, pitching at least 140 innings each year with ERAs ranging from 4.04 to 4.56.

“Was that enough to earn the almost 32-year-old a three- or four-year deal on the open market? Apparently not, at least so far. If his free agency drags on, he may end up signing a ‘one year plus a player option’ deal, a trend that’s become quite popular recently. And we know the Giants are fans of those types of contracts.”

The Giants were previously linked to Corbin Burnes before he joined the Arizona Diamondbacks, demonstrating their intention to bolster their pitching staff. While Jack Flaherty remains their ideal target, should they miss out on him as well, Pivetta could become a viable backup option.
