“This crowded situation makes it logical for the Seahawks to explore trade offers for Lockett. Would a team be willing to give up a first-round pick for him? Is he worth trading for another star player at a different position?
However, he probably won’t fetch exactly what the Seahawks hope for, as Lockett is somewhat older at 32. He’s older than Odell Beckham Jr., and the only wide receiver over 32 still playing this season is Adam Thielen. It’s surprising, and it’s tough to argue that Lockett is still in that league. He might bring back a middle-round pick or a different player, but we believe the opportunity for a trade may have come a year too late,” Villano noted.
This season, Lockett has struggled with consistency, making him an attractive buy-low target for other teams. Although he has talent, his fluctuating target share has affected his performance. With the Seahawks’ offense changing, potential trade partners could see value in acquiring him while his stock is low.
