The NFC West is arguably the NFL’s most competitive division at the midpoint of the 2024 season, with all four teams still in contention for the title.
Entering the season, the San Francisco 49ers were expected to dominate the division. However, injuries have hindered Kyle Shanahan’s team, and they have yet to meet preseason expectations.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks have managed to stay competitive in the standings, despite losing four of their last five games, including a tough defeat to the Buffalo Bills.

In Week 9, Seattle has a key divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, but they’ll be missing key offensive players. “Seahawks ruled D.K. Metcalf and Noah Fant out against the Rams on Sunday,” reported Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic on X.
“Metcalf missing the game against the Rams is a notable setback, but according to head coach Mike Macdonald, the wide receiver appears to be on track to return to the field sooner rather than later.”
Despite Seattle’s home-field advantage and better record, Los Angeles is slightly favored, which reflects the impact of Seattle’s absences at wide receiver and tight end.
If Geno Smith can rely on other targets, the Seahawks could still pull off a mild upset and maintain their spot at the top of the division.
