On Sunday morning at Fanatics Fest, a group of New York Rangers legends took the stage to discuss with current Rangers forward Matt Rempe and fans what it means to wear the iconic blue sweater.

The “No Quit New York” panel, hosted by Tie Domi, featured Rempe alongside Rangers greats Henrik Lundqvist and Mike Richter. They talked about the incredible Rangers fanbase and the electrifying atmosphere at Madison Square Garden, expressing the pride they feel in playing at the World’s Most Famous Arena.

Henrik Lundqvist reflects on the support of Rangers fans during Madison Square Garden

During the panel, Henrik Lundqvist shared heartfelt thoughts about Rangers fans and the unique experience of performing at a high level in Madison Square Garden:

“You feel it as soon as you walk in—the pressure to perform. You put a lot of that pressure on yourself. Of course, when things go well, it’s exhilarating, and you can really feel the crowd’s support in those moments. Whether it’s after a crucial save or a big win, that’s what we live for. It’s hard to put into words.

“It never gets old. Ever. To feel that appreciation when you’ve put in the work and played a key role in a critical moment of the game—it never loses its magic.”

Lundqvist was instrumental in some of the most significant victories for the Rangers over the past two decades. The Hall of Fame goaltender spent 15 seasons in New York, boasting a career .918 save percentage and cementing his status as one of the NHL’s greatest goalies.

The Rangers have been fortunate to have some of the best goaltenders in their storied history, including fellow panelist Mike Richter. However, for many New Yorkers, none compare to The King.
