Who’s taking shots at the Los Angeles Rams? While the team focuses on its offseason moves, one looming decision could have a major impact—potentially releasing Him.
He recently revealed that the Rams are attempting to trade him, but they have yet to find a suitable trade partner. His $20 million salary for 2025 appears to be a sticking point in negotiations.
However, if He still has the ability to perform as a top wide receiver, Mike Florio of NBC Sports believes he could be worth that price.

“Kupp’s value will depend on how his next team sees him,” Florio wrote. “From Kupp’s perspective, he doesn’t think he has declined. Instead, the Rams have simply shifted their focus to Puka Nacua as their No. 1 receiver. If another team views Kupp as a WR1, then $20 million might actually be a bargain.”
Does Rams WR Cooper Kupp still have it?
Cooper Kupp has missed 18 games over the past three seasons, a significant absence given his hefty contract. By 2025, he’ll be four years removed from his dominant 2021 season, where he recorded 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns.
The Rams owe Kupp a $7.5 million roster bonus on March 15. If a trade is delayed until after that date, Los Angeles would cover that portion of his $20 million salary, leaving an acquiring team responsible for just $12.5 million in 2025.
“It all depends on whether a new team is willing to take on the full $20 million or if the Rams will need to absorb part of it to facilitate a deal,” Mike Florio noted. “If Kupp refuses to take a pay cut, outright release could become an option.”

If Kupp is available for $12.5 million, it could be a great value—especially if he stays healthy. Even if injuries persist, the financial risk wouldn’t be overwhelming.
However, a concerning trend emerged late in the season: Matthew Stafford significantly reduced his targets to Kupp. Despite receiving 21 targets in the season opener and several double-digit target games, his last five games saw a steep decline with just 3, 3, 3, 1, and 7 targets. Given their strong connection in the past, this drop-off raises questions about whether Kupp still has the same impact.
Potential suitors should proceed with caution.
