The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up to face the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, with all eyes on star quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is dealing with a knee injury ahead of the matchup. His most recent update regarding the injury has caught the attention of fans.
Hurts sustained the injury during the third quarter of the Eagles’ divisional-round victory over the Los Angeles Rams when his leg twisted awkwardly as he was sacked by Jaylen McCollough. Although he managed to finish the game, his mobility was noticeably restricted, and he was seen limping heavily afterward.
Despite the injury, the Eagles haven’t expressed significant concern about Hurts’ condition throughout the week. He participated in the team’s practices on both Wednesday and Thursday. However, on Friday, Hurts mentioned that he might need to wear a knee brace if he plays, which sparked some questions.

“Eagles QB Jalen Hurts on his knee: ‘It’s been progressing, like coach said.’ Asked if he’ll wear a brace Sunday, he said, ‘I anticipate so,'” reported Mike Garafolo in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
While the brace could enable Hurts to push through the injury and lead the Eagles in their bid for a Super Bowl appearance, it also indicates that he’s not fully healthy. Whether this will affect his performance remains uncertain, but it’s worth noting, given how critical his mobility and scrambling ability are to his game.
For now, Hurts seems on track to play in the high-stakes clash against the Commanders. However, if his mobility is limited as it was late in the Rams game, it could present challenges for Philadelphia. The NFC Championship Game is set to kick off at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday, Jan. 26.
