The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed left-handed pitcher and two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell to a five-year deal worth $182 million, with $62 million deferred over a longer period.

This move bolsters an already formidable rotation that could include Shohei Ohtani (expected to return to the mound in 2025), Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Snell, and Tony Gonsolin. Additionally, Walker Buehler, Jack Flaherty, and Clayton Kershaw are free agents who might return, especially Kershaw.

Los Angeles could be looking to add another top pitcher

The Dodgers’ rotation has the potential to be one of the greatest ever assembled, and they might not be finished making moves. A recent report suggests they could be targeting Chicago White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet.

“Jon Heyman mentioned during a live stream that the Dodgers are still considering a trade for Crochet, even after signing Snell, according to MLB.com,” shared Dodger Blue on X.

The Dodgers can make Crochet even better

If the Dodgers’ rotation is already historically strong without Garrett Crochet, adding the White Sox southpaw could elevate it to an exceptional level. Crochet would likely slot in as their fourth or fifth starter, despite having the talent to be an ace or a number two on most teams. This past season, he recorded a career-high 209 strikeouts over 146 innings with a respectable 3.58 ERA—impressive numbers that carry significant value even in his current situation with the White Sox.

There’s reason to believe Crochet could reach new heights under the Dodgers’ elite player development system, which has a proven track record of maximizing talent. With Crochet’s powerful arm and high potential, the possibilities are exciting.

The Dodgers reportedly explored a potential trade for Crochet with the White Sox before the trade deadline, but Chicago chose to hold onto him. However, with GM Brandon Gomes emphasizing pitching as a key focus this offseason, it’s likely that LA will remain active in trade discussions until a resolution is reached.
