The Dallas Cowboys have finished their interview with Robert Saleh but have not yet made a decision regarding their vacant head coaching position.
Saleh was the second candidate to be interviewed by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Earlier, Dallas conducted a virtual interview with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore on Friday.
On Saturday afternoon, the team announced that Saleh’s in-person interview had concluded, and he remains among the shortlist of candidates. Former Minnesota Vikings head coach and current Seahawks assistant Leslie Frazier will also be interviewing for the role.
Saleh, 45, earned recognition as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. He spent over three challenging seasons as the head coach of the New York Jets, where he was dismissed during the season in October after posting a 20-36 record with no playoff appearances.

Jets owner Woody Johnson hoped that firing Saleh would ignite the team after a 2-3 start, but the Jets struggled, finishing the season at 5-12.
Kellen Moore Favorite for Cowboys Job
The Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy on Monday after he spent five seasons with the team, posting a 49-35 record. Despite this, following a 7-10 season, both sides decided to go in different directions.
Kellen Moore, the former offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, is now the leading candidate to replace McCarthy, with odds of -150 at DraftKings. Moore, who had a stint with Dallas both as a player and as the offensive coordinator from 2019-22, is preparing for a divisional-round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles aren’t concerned about Moore’s interview being a distraction.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stated, “He’ll be in all the meetings and completing his tasks as expected. There’s no doubt that he’s been focused all week and has done everything needed to prepare for this game. People sometimes believe coaches don’t get time to relax, but there are moments on Fridays and Saturday afternoons for that. In these situations, those are the times when coaches earn the opportunity to interview for other jobs.”
Deion Sanders Still in Mix for Cowboys
Deion Sanders is another notable candidate being considered for the Cowboys job. The Colorado head coach has had conversations with Jerry Jones, though no official interview has been arranged.
“It’s truly a pleasure to hear from Jerry Jones, and it’s certainly intriguing,” Sanders said to ESPN on Monday. “I have a lot of respect for Jerry and believe in him. After reflecting on the conversation, I find it intriguing. However, I really love Boulder, my team, the coaches, our students, and the community here.”
Sanders has made a major impact in Boulder, leading the Buffaloes to a successful 9-4 season. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided an update, indicating that the situation doesn’t seem too serious.
“Let’s talk about Deion,” Rapoport said on Saturday. “Deion has had discussions with Jerry Jones, and there seems to be some mutual interest. However, as it stands — considering it’s Jerry Jones and anything can happen — no interview has taken place, nor is one scheduled. I’d be surprised if an interview happens at all.”
Rapoport also noted that Sanders is currently in negotiations with Colorado for a potentially significant contract extension.
