DALLAS – The Dallas Cowboys have bolstered their roster with a new defensive end as two key defenders recover from injuries.

The player, a second-year pro, was drafted in the fifth round by Washington in 2023. He appeared in 10 games for the Commanders and twice for the Bengals before signing a two-year deal with Dallas.

Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence will be sidelined for at least four weeks due to a foot injury, while linebacker Micah Parsons is expected to miss Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh, and possibly more, because of a high ankle sprain. Both players were injured in the second half of last week’s 20-15 win over the New York Giants.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones emphasized the need for younger players to step up.

“We’re fortunate to have young guys who can step in and play. It’s hard to find someone available in the NFL system or to poach a practice squad player who can just step in right away,” he said.

Rookie Marshawn Kneeland and veterans Carl Lawson and Chauncey Golston could fill in. Tyrus Wheat is also on the roster but has been inactive for the past two games.

A win on Sunday night against Pittsburgh, combined with a Washington loss, would move the Cowboys into a tie for first place in the NFC East.
