Free agent third baseman is widely regarded as the top position player still available on the market. With the Houston Astros showing little interest in bringing him back, the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers have emerged as leading contenders to sign the two-time All-Star.
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, connections to former Astros personnel make both teams strong fits for Him. “The Tigers, with his former Astros manager A.J.
Hinch, and the Red Sox, with his former Astros coach Alex Cora, have been frequently linked to the star third baseman, known for his stellar all-around game and impressive postseason track record,” Heyman noted.

Bregman, who spent nine seasons with Houston, has built a strong October résumé, winning two World Series titles and appearing in 99 playoff games. Over that span, he has posted a .789 OPS with 19 home runs and 54 RBIs.
Both Boston and Detroit could benefit from adding a player of Bregman’s caliber, but who will come out on top? Colin Cerniglia of Yardbarker predicts the Tigers will secure the deal. “Looking to strengthen their offense and return to the playoffs, the Detroit Tigers will reunite Bregman with former manager A.J. Hinch,” Cerniglia wrote.
While Spotrac estimates Bregman’s market value at four years and $119 million, his agent, Scott Boras, is reportedly seeking a $200 million guarantee, according to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart.
