Jamahal Hill claimed a statement win over Johnny Walker in the light heavyweight main event of a UFC Fight Night at the APEX Facility in Las Vegas on Sunday morning.
Hill moved to a career record of 10-1 (6 KO) with an impressive knockout of Walker just under three minutes into the first round.
The 30-year-old American has promised that what he did to his Brazilian will be just the start of his rise to stardom in what he described as a “tired” division.
“Whenever it landed, I have seen him kind of wobble,” Hill said of a spectacular finish which saw him send Walker flying back to the cage before putting his lights out with a final, brutal blow.
“When I have seen him wobble like that, I knew I had to get in and put another one on him and finish him.”
Hill added, “I don’t know (who is next), man. I feel like the division is a little tired. Some guys need some naps, and ‘Sweet Dreams’ is here to provide them.”
He did, however, go on to reveal a desire to fight Jiri Prochazka: “The reason I want Jiri so bad is I feel like that’s a fight that from both ends, it would be a b*nger,” Hill said.
“It would be a b*nger. I think it would be promoted well. Not too many other people have that star ability. I feel like I talk well, I feel like I dress well, I feel like I fight well. I feel like I’ve got that swag. I feel like he was one of those guys.”
The main card also featured Kyle Daukaus submitting Jamie Pickett in the first round a catchweight (195 lb) co-main event with a D’Arce choke; Parker Porter overcame Alan Baudot in a heavyweight bout via unanimous decision; Jim Miller defeated Nikolas Motta via TKO in the lightweight category, and Ghana’s Abdul Razak Alhassan fell to a split decision loss at the hands of Joaquin Buckle in a middleweight opener.
The next UFC event is another Fight Night in ‘Sin City’ on Sunday 27 February, headlined by a catchweight bout between Islam Makhachev and Bobby Green.
