The Indianapolis Colts are looking to bounce back in 2025, setting their sights on competing for the AFC South title and securing a playoff spot—something they haven’t done since 2020.
For that to happen, the offense must either see a major leap from Anthony Richardson in his third year or hope that Daniel Jones regains his 2022 form, which helped the New York Giants reach the Divisional Round. With a strong group of wide receivers in place, the Colts believe either quarterback has the tools to succeed next season.
One standout among their receiving corps is a former second-round pick who’s making a comeback after dealing with a serious injury.
The Indianapolis Colts’ WR1 battled a back injury
Michael Pittman Jr. played through a low-back fracture that he sustained during training camp in 2024, missing just one game all season—Week 10. The injury occurred during a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals and was officially diagnosed after the Colts’ Week 3 win over the Chicago Bears.

Despite the setback, Pittman put together a strong season, recording 69 catches on 111 targets for 808 yards and three touchdowns over 16 games.
He reveals a massive injury update
Michael Pittman Jr. did not have to have surgery on his back, the WR reiterates.
Pittman says he was cleared to play last month and he believes he's done the work necessary to get past the fractured back he played through last season.
