Alabama football plans to utilize five to seven wide receivers in their upcoming game against Western Kentucky. One standout expected to make an immediate impact is Germie Bernard, a transfer from the University of Washington who has quickly found his place with the Crimson Tide.

After joining in the spring, Bernard impressed in the spring game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, recording three catches for 122 yards. Hailing from Las Vegas, he played on a Pac-12 Championship team last year and competed in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
He is well-versed in the offensive system brought by Kalen DeBoer, Nick Sheridan, and JaMarcus Shephard from Washington, and has been actively coaching his fellow wide receivers.
Alabama WRs Coach JaMarcus Shephard raves about transfer WR Germie Bernard’s leadership:

Bernard believes the offense, with Jalen Milroe at quarterback, can average over 40 points per game. Coach JaMarcus Shephard values Bernard’s presence on the team, seeing him as a “coach on the field” due to his leadership and knowledge.
Shephard praised Bernard for his leadership and adaptability since joining Alabama, noting that his performance with the Tide has been exceptional compared to his previous school. Bernard’s understanding of the game and his commitment to coaching his peers have been instrumental in integrating DeBoer’s offensive system.
He has helped players like Kendrick Law, Kobe Prentice, Emmanuel Henderson Jr., Cole Adams, Jaren Hamilton, and several freshmen to adapt more quickly. This has put players like Ryan Williams, Caleb Odom, and possibly Rico Scott in a position to see significant playing time against Western Kentucky. Alabama fans are eager to see Bernard’s continued development and his ability to elevate the performance of those around him this season.
