HUGE BOOST: Detroit Lions Super Star To Return After Long Term Injury

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is expected to return to practice next week after missing time due to a hamstring injury, head coach Dan Campbell announced Tuesday.

Campbell shared this update during a press conference at the Detroit Lions Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park, Michigan. The Lions are set to play their final preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday in Detroit.

“We plan to get him back next week,” Campbell said about Gibbs. “He’s making good progress.”

Campbell also mentioned that the team expects several other players, including tackle Dan Skipper, guard Kevin Zeitler, tight end Sam LaPorta, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, and defensive lineman D.J. Reader, to return after the Pittsburgh game.

Gibbs left practice early on August 12 due to a leg injury. In his rookie season, Gibbs racked up 1,261 yards from scrimmage and scored 11 touchdowns, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl.

The Lions will kick off their regular season against the Los Angeles Rams at 8:20 p.m. EDT on September 8 at Ford Field.
