The Boston Red Sox seem to be just kicking off their offseason moves. Following a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox to acquire ace Garrett Crochet, the team remains focused on bolstering both their pitching staff and lineup.

In exchange for Crochet, the Red Sox parted with four prospects, including top-catching prospect Kyle Teel and 2024 first-round pick Braden Montgomery.

Crochet, who transitioned from the bullpen to the rotation, earned his first All-Star nod in 2024. Over 32 starts, he struck out 209 batters in 146 innings, recorded a 3.58 ERA, and achieved a 115 ERA+. Set to earn just under $3 million in 2025, Crochet will remain under team control until after the 2026 season.

Now positioned as Boston’s new No. 1 starter, Crochet is a key piece, but the Red Sox are still in pursuit of more All-Star talent to strengthen their roster.

MLB insiders reveal Boston Red Sox stalking multiple All-Stars

The Red Sox are reportedly linked to five All-Stars, including four free agents.

According to Alex Speier of The Boston Globe, the team remains interested in acquiring former National League Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes to complement Crochet. Burnes, who joined the Baltimore Orioles prior to the 2024 season, earned his fourth All-Star selection after posting a 2.92 ERA and a 128 ERA+ with 181 strikeouts over 194⅓ innings.

MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi reports that Boston is also exploring a trade for Seattle Mariners starter Luis Castillo. The three-time All-Star recorded a 3.64 ERA in 30 starts during the 2024 season, with a 101 ERA+ and 175 strikeouts across 175⅓ innings. Castillo is under contract for three more years as part of a five-year, $108 million deal.

Tigers aren't getting Alex Bregman if they think they can draw a line in the sand

On the offensive side, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand notes that the Red Sox are eyeing Alex Bregman, a three-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion with the Astros. While Bregman primarily plays third base, Boston envisions him transitioning to second base due to Rafael Devers’ stronghold on the hot corner.

Additionally, the Red Sox are targeting two All-Star outfielders, Anthony Santander and Teoscar Hernández. With Tyler O’Neill leaving for the Orioles in free agency, the team is looking to add a power-hitting corner outfielder.

After missing the playoffs for three consecutive years, Boston aims to turn its fortunes around in the 2025 season.
