HUGE BLOW: Blake Snell won’t be loved in San Diego anymore

Spread the love

What a shocking surprise we got tonight!

Well, well, well. Blake Snell is now a Dodger. Didn’t see that coming.

He’s set to join a loaded Dodgers rotation that could feature Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and either Dustin May or Tony Gonsolin. And let’s not forget Roki Sasaki might be arriving in 2025.

If games were played on paper, this rotation would be nearly unbeatable. Thankfully, that’s not how baseball works.

Batting Around: Would you rather sign Blake Snell or Max Fried in MLB free agency? - CBSSports.com

This signing stings, not just because an elite pitcher is joining our rival, but because it’s Snell. He was such a great fit in San Diego, and his banter with Don and Mud was classic (no offense to Michael King, but it’s just not the same). Even last year with San Francisco, he brought pizza to the Padres’ front office.

Now, seeing him in Dodger blue? It’s hard to stomach. I don’t hate the guy as a person, but as a baseball player, he’s a Dodger now—and that’s tough to accept. I know I’m not the only Padres fan feeling this way tonight.

That said, good for him on a personal level. From signing a deal as the reigning Cy Young winner in Spring Training to securing his big payday before Thanksgiving and the Winter Meetings, it’s been quite a journey. Props to Scott Boras for getting it done.

It just hurts that the deal is with them.
