The Houston Texans will be without tight end Dalton Keene this season.

The Houston Texans faced some disappointing news today concerning one of their young tight ends. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported that Texans fullback and tight end Dalton Keene has been placed on injured reserve due to a torn ACL, effectively ending his 2024 season.

Keene, 25, was originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech, appearing in six games during his rookie season.

This isn’t Keene’s first season-ending knee injury. In August 2021, he was placed on injured reserve by the Patriots, cutting his season short. He was released by the Patriots before the 2022 season.

After spending time on various practice squads in 2022 and 2023, Keene eventually found a spot with the Texans. He returned to the field in Week 9 last season, playing 22 snaps, but did not see further action.

Now, Keene will have to wait until 2025 for another chance to return to the field.
