Kentucky’s Scoring Phenom Is All In – Travis Perry Stays True to the Blue

Travis Perry, the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school basketball history, has made it official — he’s sticking with his commitment to the University of Kentucky. Big Blue Nation couldn’t be prouder as the Lyon County standout pledges to represent his home state on college basketball’s biggest stage.

“I’m all in for Kentucky. This has been my dream since I was a kid,” Perry shared. “There’s nothing better than wearing that jersey and playing for the place I love.”

After initially committing during Coach John Calipari’s tenure, some wondered if Perry would stay on board after the coaching change. But new head coach Mark Pope quickly won him over — and Perry’s response was immediate and unwavering: he’s staying right where he belongs.

His high school career is the stuff of legends:
5,381 points — the most ever scored in Kentucky
2024 Mr. Basketball in Kentucky
MVP of Lyon County’s first state championship
2022-23 Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year

Perry didn’t just dominate on the court — he inspired a region. He led Lyon County to new heights and became a shining example of Kentucky grit and determination.

Coach Pope has already made it clear he’s thrilled to have Perry on board, praising his smooth shooting stroke, unshakable focus, and leadership. The buzz got louder when Perry knocked down 59 straight corner threes in a practice session — a sign that the young Wildcat is ready to light it up in Lexington.

But this commitment is about more than numbers — it’s about heart. Perry grew up living and breathing Kentucky basketball. Now he gets to chase greatness in front of the fans who’ve cheered him on from day one.

Travis Perry is staying home — and he’s ready to give everything he’s got to the blue and white. The next chapter of Kentucky basketball just got a lot more exciting.
