The Seattle Seahawks have added wide receiver Ty Scott to their roster ahead of their Week 2 game against the New England Patriots. To make space for Scott, the team released linebacker Michael Barrett.

Barrett was recently acquired by Seattle after the Seahawks traded veteran cornerback Michael Jackson to the Carolina Panthers on August 22, 2024. However, Barrett’s time with the Seahawks was short-lived.

Chiefs News: WR Ty Scott Cut After New KC Signing

Scott initially joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. He had several short stints with Kansas City last offseason but failed to secure a spot on the final roster.

Seattle signed Scott in July, but he didn’t make the 53-man roster and was released on August 27. Now, Scott has another chance to prove himself in the Pacific Northwest.

New Seahawks WR Ty Scott Is Coming Off a Standout UFL Season

What can fans anticipate from Scott? It’s true that Scott has a tough road ahead in a competitive receiver group. However, he’s coming off an impressive season in the UFL, where he was the leading receiver for the DC Defenders, recording 25 catches for 418 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Seahawks Are 3-Point Favorites Versus the Patriots

The Seahawks are currently 3-point favorites against the Patriots for their Week 2 matchup. Seattle initially opened as 3.5-point favorites, but the line is gradually shifting in favor of New England.

Both teams come into this game with a 1-0 record, as the Patriots pulled off an upset win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Jacoby Brissett is expected to start again at quarterback for New England, as the team continues to ease rookie Drake Maye into action.

Seattle’s offensive line will need to improve on its shaky performance from the season opener if the Seahawks hope to advance to 2-0.
