The San Francisco 49ers, who have been battling numerous injuries throughout the 2024 season, have added veteran safety to their practice squad as defensive depth.

To make space for Him, the team released wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. It’s uncertain if He will play in Week 7, but his arrival brings competition to an injury-hit secondary.

Amos’ signing was first announced by his agency, Equity Sports, and later confirmed by the 49ers. The 31-year-old was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and has since played for four teams, including the Bears and Green Bay Packers.

In his nine-year career, He has accumulated 664 tackles, 49 pass deflections, and 10 interceptions across 142 games, as well as 29 tackles in eight postseason appearances. In 2023, he played for both the New York Jets and Houston Texans.

Amos joins a 49ers defense currently struggling with injuries, including All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga, who is on injured reserve with a wrist injury, and rookie Malik Mustapha, who sustained an ankle sprain in Week 6.

49ers Sign Safety Adrian Amos to the Practice Squad

Amos, alongside Ji’Ayir Brown and George Odum, is one of the few healthy options in the safety rotation and could earn a significant role if he impresses in practice, especially given his familiarity with the 49ers’ defensive scheme.

In a related move, the 49ers also signed kicker Anders Carlson to their practice squad to provide depth behind Matthew Wright, who is dealing with a dislocated shoulder. Wright had been filling in for Jake Moody, whose status remains unclear.
