Louisville defensive line commit Sam Dawson has finalized the date for his official visit with the Cardinals. The five-star in-state talent from South Oldham High School is scheduled to be part of the second wave of recruits visiting in June.
Cardinal Authority connected with Dawson after a recent South Oldham practice, where he confirmed the visit details.
Standing 6-foot-4.5 and weighing 290 pounds, Dawson is no stranger to Louisville. He’s made multiple visits to the school as both a recruit and a fan, giving him strong familiarity with the program and coaching staff. However, he’s eager to explore more of the university’s academic offerings during his official visit.

“I haven’t seen anything academic yet,” Dawson said. “Just the football side. I’d love to tour the campus, see my dorm, and experience more of student life. That would be awesome.”
He confirmed the visit is set for June 6th, and will include a photo shoot and overnight accommodations. “We’ve got hotel rooms. I’m excited,” he added.
Dawson had an impressive junior season, recording 60 tackles—16 of them solo—along with eight tackles for loss, a sack, two fumble recoveries, and an interception.
Ranked as the No. 91 defensive line prospect nationally, Dawson is a key piece of Louisville’s 2025 recruiting class.
South Oldham wrapped up its season with a 7-4 record, ending with a playoff loss to Class 5-A state runner-up Cooper.
