The Chargers are keeping their core group of safeties intact, re-signing veteran to a one-year deal. Jefferson, who previously played for the Cardinals and Ravens, returned from retirement before the 2024 season and delivered some of his best performances late in the year, stepping in for the injured Elijah Molden.

Jefferson wrapped up the 2024 season with 27 tackles and one tackle for loss, starting four games and appearing in eight. Alongside Derwin James and Alohi Gilman, the trio maintained one of the league’s top safety units after Molden went down with an injury in Week 15 against the Buccaneers.
Staying in Los Angeles for another year, Jefferson will continue to provide leadership and experience to a group that features players either in their prime or on the rise. If the Chargers aim to improve in 2025, retaining this well-functioning safety unit is a significant advantage.
